Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte

Whenever fall comes around, I literally run to my favorite coffee shop to get my hands on a pumpkin spice latte. But, I recently was playing around and found a way to make one right at home. It's easy to make and comes together in less than 20 minutes.

One of my favorite things about this is you know everything that is going into your drink. There are no artificial flavors or colors, it's all real and natural. For this recipe, I used fresh pumpkin and turned it into a puree but feel free to use store-bought pumpkin puree if that is readily available for you. Plus, this recipe features our homemade pumpkin spice. Just 4 ingredients to take this latte to the NEXT level.

  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg

Instructions:

How to make the Pumpkin Spice syrup

  1. On medium heat, add your sugar and water into a saucepan. Mix until sugar has completely dissolved (should take around 3 minutes).

  2. Add your cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves and mix until incorporated. Then add the pumpkin puree. Keep mixing until everything is combined.

  3. Allow to simmer on low heat for around 7 minutes. It should start to resemble a thick syrup.

Latte:

  1. For each serving, add in your 3 tbsp. syrup, then the espresso on top. Mix those two together. Finally add your milk on top and give it a final stir. (The syrup makes enough for 4 servings)

  2. Optional: top wit whipped cream, milk froth, or some pumpkin spice. Serve warm.

Tips:

  • If you decide to make a homemade pumpkin puree, make sure that after you boil it and blend it to put it through a sieve, that way it'll remove any lumps and your latte will be as smooth as possible.
